Travel through the centuries in Mason Hall
October 14, 2008
Students exit the Fishbowl in the 1960s. This spot, just outside Mason Hall, is where the first university buildings went up—and remains perhaps the most familiar locale on central campus. (Photo courtesy U-M Bentley Historical Library.) Click image to view slideshow
It's the original location of the University of Michigan, the land where its first building stood.
Mason Hall—familiar to every U-M student for its classrooms and the famous "Fishbowl"—dates back, in various configurations, to 1841.
In this slideshow, we travel back through the centuries to see Mason Hall as it is and was.
