The Michigan Sailing Club was founded in 1938 to provide sailing facilities for a small group of naval architecture students; its primary mission now is to develop members' skills in all aspects of sailing.
For the beginner, the Michigan Sailing Club provides lessons. For the more experienced, its crew offers advanced clinics, racing, teaching opportunities, boat repair, and the use of trapeze and spinnaker equipment.
Each weekend, the Michigan Sailing Club presents lectures and demonstrations on a variety of beginner and advanced sailing topics. Participants may begin attending at any time, since most lectures do not require previous sailing knowledge.
The club is open, weather permitting, all day every Saturday and Sunday from April through October, and weekday evenings after 6:30 p.m. during summer months. The boats are available to all members on a first-come, first-served basis, except during instruction and racing.
