Join us today, Aug. 2, at noon for a live Google Hangout with storm chaser and extreme weather expert Perry Samson. Here's what we're wondering:
What extreme weather event causes the most fatalities every year?
How do experts predict future weather patterns?
Which extreme weather events pose the greatest threats going forward?
How can we prepare for/mitigate damage from extreme weather events?
Perry Samson is the Arthur F. Thurnau Professor of Atmospheric Science at U-M. He is a storm chaser and expert on extreme weather, with courses that explore both extreme weather and air pollution meteorology. He is co-founder of the Weather Underground.
To view the Google Hangout live you need to: 1) Be available from noon-12:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2 2) Own a Google+ account 3) Access the Internet via ethernet cable.
Important details you should not skip over: 1) If you do not have a Google+ profile page, you can sign up for one here: https://accounts.google.com/SignUp. 2) On the day of the Hangout we will invite a limited number of users to submit questions and interact with Professor Samson live.
