Investment in Detroit youth pays off for students struggling with academics.
KRISTEN KERECMAN is part of the University of Michigan’s central communications team; she works closely with the Poverty Solutions director and leadership team to drive communications strategy and outreach for U-M’s poverty work. She also works with leadership to help guide the initiative’s public engagement strategy with external stakeholders, such as policymakers. Prior to joining Michigan in August 2014, Kerecman managed outreach and communications efforts for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Before heading overseas, she managed communications campaigns for a national environmental policy organization in Washington, D.C. She is a former Peace Corps Volunteer and has worked as a backcountry park ranger in Yosemite National Park, California, and in Colorado.
