Santa J. Ono embarks on a strategic visioning process that will be in place by 2024.

The decision follows the approval June 17 of the University’s consolidated budget plan for the coming fiscal year. That budget includes funding for a modest salary program for University employees and a $15-an-hour minimum wage for regular U-M employees on all campuses.

U-M’s Board of Regents approved a budget during a special session June 29 that includes a 1.9 percent tuition increase and $12.8 million in additional need-based financial aid for undergraduates on the Ann Arbor campus.

Zina Pitcher, an unsung hero of U-M’s earliest years, was a doctor, soldier, politician, and botanist.
