Michigan Today encourages visitors to share their stories and opinions. As a publication of the University of Michigan we share the university’s commitment to free, open, and passionate debate. We do publish criticism of the university’s policies and decisions, provided it is related to story topics in Michigan Today.
All forums are moderated and vetted by an editor. All contributors must provide their full, real name. We will not publish personal attacks on our staff, faculty, alumni, or, especially, students. We expect that all opinions will be offered respectfully, no matter how strongly held.
Michigan Today reserves the right to edit submissions for length and typos.
We will not publish inappropriate material, which includes but is not necessarily limited to:
- ad hominem attacks on any person,
- vulgar language,
- potential libel or slander,
- any insult or insinuation against any student of the university,
- clear factual errors,
- material not related to topics covered in Michigan Today,
- other matters deemed inappropriate by the editor.
We do not publish commenters’ email addresses.
Any commenter wishing to have their posting removed may email the editor at Mtoday@umich.edu and we will un-publish the posting as soon as possible.
