Larry Bongort
was recently named an Associate Partner at Chong Partners Architecture in San Francisco. Bongort is the firm’s senior medical planner and is currently leading the planning of a senior residential community in England and a cancer center in San Diego. He is a founding member of the American College of Healthcare Architects and a member of the American Institute of Architects’ Academy of Architecture for Health.

Karen Borst-Rothe
recently served as Interim Director of the Fall Program for Freshmen, a unique, high-profile program for University of California Berkeley spring-admitted freshmen; she also teaches in the program. In addition, she gives writing/presentation workshops at UC San Francisco and also specializes in full-service communication training in SF Bay Area Biotech companies.

Marshall Fine
was commissioned to write for the IRIS Chamber Orchestra (Michael Stern, conductor) for the 2004-2005 season. The work, “A Flower of the Infinite Garden,” was premiered on March 5, 2005.

James R. Sobeiraj
a patent attorney with the law firm of Brinks, Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the U.S., has been elected Vice President of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago (IPLAC) for 2005-2006, at its annual meeting held on May 3, 2005, at the University Club, Chicago.
With more than 20 years of experience in the procurement, licensing and enforcement of intellectual property rights, Jim is a litigator and has been lead counsel in cases involving patent infringement, ownership of patent rights, license disputes, misappropriation of trade secrets, trade dress infringement, unfair competition, false advertising, defamation, fraud, RICO and antitrust. Jim received both his B.S. degree, magna cum laude, in Engineering and his law degree at the University of Michigan. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation; was the President and sat on the Board of Trustees of the Licensing Executives Society and is currently a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, The Lawyers Club of Chicago, the Federal Circuit Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association. Recently, Jim was named an “Illinois Super Lawyer” in the area of intellectual property litigation in a survey conducted by Law & Politics magazine.
IPLAC is a not-for-profit organization whose more than 850 members include lawyers practicing in the intellectual property field, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, unfair competition and related areas.

Faizah Shabazz
has joined the District Attorney’s Office in Dahlonega, Georgia, as an Assistant District Attorney. She earned her Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Cincinnati in 2001.

Robert Beasecker
is the Interim Dean of University Libraries, Grand Valley State University (Allendale, Michigan), and has edited the book “I Hope to Do My Country Service”: The Civil War Letters of John Bennitt, M.D., Surgeon, 19th Michigan Infantry. The book was published in March by Wayne State University Press.

Bob Litwin
won the International Tennis Federation World Championships and is currently the #1 ranked 55 and over player in the World. He won the ITF Senior World Championships in Perth, Australia when he defeated former tour start Lito Alvarez of Argentina. Litwin had advanced to the finals last year but did not play due to a religious conflict. He has won 9 USTA National Championships and was the 2002 USPTA National Sr. Player of the Year. Litwin is the President of the Sports Focus Institute and is a mental training coach.
