Each fall, the Diag is given over to Festifall, during which hundreds of student clubs and organizations seek to attract new members of the U-M student body. At any given time, one might encounter a chess tournament, a belly dancer, some guys beating on drums, someone dressed as a penguin, or a large telescope pointed at the sun.
