SANTA J. ONO is the University of Michigan's 15th president. He has served as president and vice chancellor of the University of British Columbia since 2016. Before that, he was provost and then president of the University of Cincinnati. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biological science at the University of Chicago and a doctorate in experimental medicine from McGill University in Montreal. Ono has taught at Johns Hopkins University, Harvard University, and University College London.
